In the geological layers that make up the buttes and cliffs in the Grand Canyon, there is a section of cliff that lies below the uppermost yellowish sandstone and above the basalt of the lowest regions. This layer, revealed as a cliff on many of the sides of the plateaus and buttes, is called Red Wall. This painting, an abstracted landscape of Grand Canyon National Park, is from my period as Artist in Residence.
