Santa Barbara Tunas
Media: Oil on artists’ board
Size: 9″ x 12″
Tunas are the name of the succulent prickly pear cactus fruit, harvested for their tangy goodness and eaten raw or made into jelly. In this case, Santa Barbara is a location in Tucson Arizona, not the famous mountains in California.
These silvery blue pads had recently had the first summer rains and were sprouting their young buds before flowering and fruiting.
